Forsythia - First Signs of Spring

It’s never been my favourite shrub. The flowers are yellow, it tends to look a bit gangly and awkward - but it is one of the first signs that Spring is just around the corner. While that might still be a ways off for some of you in colder climates, here in Vancouver, where the winter’s tend to be pretty mild - Spring is not too far away.

Forsythia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Oleaceae (olive family). There are about 11 species, mostly native to eastern Asia, but one native to southeastern Europe.
